About the Maker

Hi, I’m Samantha - the maker behind Sacred Roots Jewelry.

Sacred Roots began in 2020, during one of the most isolating seasons of my life. I was home on maternity leave with a newborn and a two-year-old while the world was in lockdown. As a Kindergarten teacher, creativity had always been a big part of my everyday life. I loved crafting with my students, coming up with new ideas, and making things with my hands. Suddenly, I was home, unable to see anyone, and without the creative outlet I had always relied on.

So, I started making jewelry.

The funny part is that I didn’t even have my own ears pierced at the time.

What began as a therapeutic way to get through long days of isolation slowly grew into something much more meaningful. Creating gave me a sense of calm, purpose, and connection during a time when life felt very small. One pair became another, then another, and eventually Sacred Roots Jewelry was born.
Most of my pieces are inspired by nature - flowers, leaves, soft colours, changing seasons, and all the small details that make the outdoors feel magical. Other times, I simply follow whatever idea feels fun in the moment. Some collections are soft and delicate, while others are whimsical, playful, spooky, or a little unexpected. I love having the freedom to create whatever sparks my imagination.

These days, I am once again creating while on maternity leave, now with three children at home - a five-year-old, a seven-year-old, and a newborn. My creative time is usually spent surrounded by clay, tools, half-finished ideas, podcasts, and audiobooks. I have a particular love for romance-fantasy stories, so there is a very good chance that dragons may be making their way into a future collection.

When I am not creating jewelry, I work full-time as a French Immersion Kindergarten teacher and Assistant Principal. I love spending time with my husband, our three children, our two dogs, Zanie and Coco, and our friends. I am happiest when I can be outside, surrounded by nature, soaking up inspiration for whatever I might create next.

Every Sacred Roots piece is handmade with care, and each one carries a little part of the journey that started at my kitchen table in 2020.
Thank you for being here, for supporting handmade, and for allowing my creativity to become part of your story.

My storage system
Clay cutters, findings, beads, flowers, tools, and supplies all need a home - or at least an organized-looking place to hide between projects.
My tissue blade
It may not look very exciting, but I use it for nearly everything - cutting clay, lifting delicate pieces from my work surface, trimming edges, slicing canes, and rescuing designs without stretching or damaging them.
My detail tools
These tiny tools are responsible for flower petals, leaves, textures, faces, and all the little details that make each piece feel special.
My pasta machine
Not for pasta - although my kids may still be disappointed about that. It helps me condition clay and roll it into smooth, even sheets.
Inside the Sacred Roots Studio
This is where the ideas, experiments, tiny details, and occasional creative mess all come together. Most days, you’ll find me here with an audiobook playing, a drink within reach, and far too many half-finished ideas competing for space on my table.

Made by Hand
Inspired by Nature
Every piece is thoughtfully created in my home studio, from shaping and sculpting to sanding, assembling, and adding the smallest finishing details.
Flowers, leaves, changing seasons, and the beauty of the outdoors inspire many of my designs - often mixed with a little whimsy, colour, or unexpected fun.

Made to Feel Special
Because each piece is handmade, no two are exactly alike. My hope is that your jewelry feels personal, expressive, and a little more meaningful than something made by a machine.
